Earlier reports of Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2's appearance at the end of March appear to be "exaggerated." Well, they do now, because Microsoft announced at Cebit that the target date is now sometime in April.
While the company still expects to launch Visual Studio 2005 -- the full version -- at the PDC in September this year, I think this will mean a number of people in Redmond will have to give up their planned summer vacations... The schedule has been slipping for a long time now.
Of course Visual Studio 2005, and .NET 2.0, will be worth the wait but for a number of companies developing software on the Beta and CTP versions of this platform today, this is causing serious headaches. Beta 2 will be supported for production software but the earlier releases are not, delaying releases of "Whidbey"-based products...
