Extravagant E3 show to forgo its wild ways
E3, the huge video game expo known for its eye-popping booths, loud displays and scantily clad models, will downsize dramatically starting next year, according to the trade association that puts on the event.
Known formally as the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3 will remain in Los Angeles but will move out of the cavernous downtown convention center, where it has remained for years. The show will likely move to a handful of headquarters hotels where companies can conduct business in suites rather than the large and loud exhibition areas on the showroom floor. The date of the show will also move from early May to July. There will still be press briefings and demonstrations, but the large trade show environment will no longer continue.- Douglas Lowenstein, president of the Entertainment Software Association,
