SpeechTEK is jammed packed, we're using three floors at the Times Square Marriot Marques and yet that is not enough! So far every technical session I have attended has been standing room only! The classrooms at SpeechTek University are way too small, the more general focused sessions have much larger rooms, but hey this is New York and we want to know how everything works!
I got to meet Cliff Nass a Professer at Stanford University, he gave this mornings opening Keynote on Voice and why humans like it so much. Cliff designs voice interfaces for companies, but he is not a tech guy, he's a psychology guy who found a niche in the communications and computer science field.
Computers as you well know are stupid, thay can recognize speech and convert it to text or an action, but they don't understand it at all. Oh, I just called computers they, Cliff says woman never do that…..
