VB Run goes Live!

Welcome to VBRun: The VB 6.0 Resource Center.

An olive branch from Jay Roxe the Product Manager for Visual Basic. “We’re excited to be able to launch this center. You’ll notice that it has three pretty distinct parts: Greatest Hits is a collection of some of the best Visual Basic 6.0 content in the MSDN Library. VB Fusion provides some specific examples of using VB 6 and VB .NET together. Stay the Path provides information and free training for VB 6 developers who are looking to explore Visual Basic .NET.

This is a new resource center. We’re going to update it weekly and we’re looking to evolve it over time. I’m going to start a discussion on my blog on this topic, but I’d also invite you to e-mail me directly at jroxe@microsoft.com and let me know what you think“. Got any great ideas? Things we’re missing?

An Open Letter to the Community

Information business

Reuters in NYC invited a bunch of bloggers over yesterday evening for a Newsmaker debate: Blogs – holding the media to account or unaccountable?

Yes the lines between bloggers and journalists are blurring, but what is becoming clear is the difference between content and information. Content can be anything from a novel to a video game, its just stuff that interests us. Information is power and power brings money and influence, I’m publishing information on this blog about cutting edge technology and it’s getting noticed.

The political bloggers were on the panel last night, but the tech bloggers were in attendance, blogging exists thanks to the magic of software and networked systems.

When Halley mentioned “the Scoble brand” everyone in the room acknowledge his power and influence, politics is the gossip but it’s all about the technology
