I don’t know what is worse; comment spam or people blogging about how somebody else is going to fix it for us. A cryptic blog post set off a whirlwind of blog postings, but not one word from those benevolent dictators who promise to “do no evil”, Google.
We all know that “page-ranking” on Google is why spammers target the comment section of blogs, but what's not known is why we can’t organize a defense.
I was hit last night (the spam-bots strike at night on my blog) by five postings each with about ten links, they were deleted before breakfast. The spammers do have better luck when they hit an orphaned blog started by someone with big plans but no follow through. If “do no evil” Google actually did something tomorrow morning, we would still have thousands of these zombie blogs with hundreds of thousands of links to nefarious sites.
