DNN 3.0 Beta is finally here
The long wait is over. Dotnetnuke 3.0 is finally here (in beta, that is). I had a test installation of 2.1.2 and tried upgrading over it only to be met with a funny error message saying that the object named DNN_Tabs was invalid. Being past midnight, I didnt have the patience to try and find the problem. Since I had the luxury of dropping the old installation and starting afresh, thats what I did and the second time around, the installation and launch went smoothly.
It does look much better and the default theme BLUE is more elegant than the old one.
I hope to get sometime now to get deep into this and building my website. Both my personal website and my GuitarPortal have been languishing without an upgrade for aeons. I could use the multiple portal facility in DNN and actually kill 2 birds with one stone. The last time i tried the multi-portal facility, it didnt work quite well and it was so long ago, that i dont even remember what the error messages or error scenarios were. But I believe that the multi-portal feature is one of the things that has been enhanced in this release so maybe it will become a reality now.
If you have been waiting for DNN 3.0 then go over and check that out immediately and if you havent heard of it, now is a good time as any.
