In September I’ll be doing a session called The Past,
Present and Future of Rich Internet Applications on the JavaZone conference in Oslo. The session aims to introduce the Java community
to my Chubby
Clients concept and incorporates all sorts of Ajax wizardry. During the last week I’ve been
working on porting the demos from last years ASP.NET
Chubby Clients session to Apache, Axis and Jakarta Tomcat. Along the way I’ve
also incorporated some new Ajax
frameworks, such as JSON-RPC, into the presentation.
No worries; I’m not leaving the .NET community to take on
fulltime Java development. This is more of a sidetrack for me. A great thing
about taking some time off to develop on different platforms is the insight you
gain on how things are done “across the tracks”. JSON-RPC is a great example of
a technology that is applicable on a wide range of platforms. There is actually
a C# implantation available.
There are many good sessions on the agenda for this year’s
conference, including session by great speakers such as
Ted
Neward and
Bruce
Tate. So I'm looking forward to the conference, although the speaking at the conference means I'll be missing out on the PDC.
